Good Shepherd
welcomes
the Rev. Scott Worth!
At a special meeting on April 25, 2010 the
congregation approved a recommendation from the
Pastor Nominating Committee to extend a Call to
Rev. Worth. A 1995 graduate of Columbia
Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, Rev.
Worth has 15 years experience as Associate Pastor in
two churches. At Good Shepherd, he will be our
fourth installed Pastor.
Come and join us as we get to know Pastor Scott, his wife Laura, daughter Kaylie, and his sons Kyle and Hayden. He will be preaching and leading our worship service on Sunday, June 6th. The service of installation for Pastor Scott will be held on Sunday June 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend, and stay for a reception to follow the service.
In a statement of faith, Scott says, “I trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and our neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church.”
When one sees the grounds of the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd, with the sheltering oaks, it suggests slow hours in the shade and a person enjoying Florida’s particular beauty. Once inside the church,a person will be welcomed by warm-hearted caring people, believer or searcher, can find a place here.
Worship reflects the histories of the people who are here. There is a lot of movement during the worship service. We have lay leadership, dramas, special offerings and different types of music. Our congregation is welcome to show their talent with playing an instrument, singing a song, or joining the choir. Beyond worship, there is a growing number of opportunities for mission, fellowship, and study. The people of this congregation are intellectually and spiritually curious and respectful of one another’s points of view. Mission opportunities go from within the church and community to the far reaches of the globe (Madagascar and the Amazon River, along with others).
